Hi everyone. My name is Keisha, and I'll be correcting this sentence with you today.
"Polar bears live in the cold temperatures of the Arctic. Their prey are hard to catch. Without their keen senses they wouldn't be able to hunt successfully enough."
So let's start from the top. "Polar bears live in the cold temperatures of the Arctic". So rather than cold, we can find a stronger word. Frigid, frigid is more vivid and your readers would be able to understand it more. It would reach them more temperatures of the Arctic. So let's finish the sentence right here, because this is a full idea. "There prey are hard to catch." So we're actually going to use there as in their because it's the correct form of the word to use.
"Without their keen senses they wouldn't be able to hunt successfully enough". So we're actually going to split this into two words instead of wouldn't would not because for academic essays you want to use more formal words, more formal couplings of words, so "would not be able to hunt successfully enough". So again, we want to use like a more appropriate coupling of words. So we're going to use as successfully period. So the full recorded sentence is:
"Polar bears live in the frigid temperatures of the Arctic. Their prey are hard to catch. Without their keen senses they would not be able to hunt as successfully".
